Counting Downing and Rushing Around...

Cool shelf with white paper towels rolls, posing as pvc candles =)

Cemetery entry way: Don't mind the stupid gates that won't meet up >=(

Foam pumpkin make-over:

Sketch for stained glass window:

32 days... Now that the ground breaker is done, except for weather proofing, which can wait b/c he will be one of my 'special' props, that will go out a few days before Halloween. So, now I'm tightening up my schedule and list of things I want done.... and it's ambitious, but if I stick to it I think I can make it work!

Tonight, I have to finish my Halloween countdown sign and try to put it in the yard tomorrow morning.

This weekend, I'm going to begin work on my stained glass window project, which will be painted on a sheet and illuminated with a flood light behind it.

This weekend and next, pvc flicker candles. I only need about 8 of them... if I can pump out more, GREAT, but if not, at least I'll have the important ones.

Can she do it? Of course she can! She's Countess Von Rauber and her cemetery must be in tip top shape in 32 days!!!!

Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses

YUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Hershey is genius =) I was a bit apprehensive about getting these. I couldn't quite imagine how chocolate and pumpkin spice flavor would mingle, but I HAD to try them.

Much to my surprise, they used white chocolate, which they colored orange (how Halloweenie!), which mingles perfectly with the cinnamon and nutmeg =)

Be warned, you truly get a mouth FULL of pumpkin spice flavor =)

Not Much...

I had intentions to get more done this weekend, but it didn't work out that way. Generated a bunch of great ideas with my hubby. Hopefully he can get some time off of work soon to help me make them come alive.

I was able to get some liquid latex, and applied it to one hand of my ground breaker, to see how it looked over the paper towel paper mache. Looks good and feels neat. I think that the paint is going to look great over it... but I'll see once I paint a piece of the test area.

Also, the eyeballs got voted out. I wasn't quiet sure of them myself, but three people out of 4 against the eyes, helped me make my decision and I'm happy with it.

Why Should Pumpkins Have All The Fun?

I forgot about this picture =) About mid-July, I just couldn't help myself >=)

Gourmet Candy Corn?

Who knew? I sure didn't, that is until yesterday =) I was cruising around Wal-Mart, getting in the way of workers who were trying to put out Halloween stuff when I passed the ISLES of candy. No kidding, there are about 5 ISLES of CANDY! It's insane. There's a lot of neat stuff this year, from something called "Bat Droppings" which look like chocolate balls and there are different flavors, to various large body parts (not the little gummy stuff) and even some neat Halloween trophies on which a skeleton is holding up a bag of candy =)

So, of course I couldn't leave empty handed! I started to go for my beloved mello-cream pumpkins (my Halloween fave since my kindergarden teach introduced me to them) when I saw, Gourmet Candy Corn... WOW! They were the same price as the mello-cream pumpkins, so I thought, "Why not!" and after looking over the various flavors which included: Pumpkin Spice, Caramal Apple, Creme Brulee and a few others that I forgot, I landed on the Blackberry Cobbler ones, which are white, lavender and purple =) Beautiful and very tasty! Let the teeth rotting begin!

Ground Breaker Progress

Hopefully I'll get all of his pieces attached today. I need to replace the paper towel roll with a wooden dowel. I want to make sure this guy is sturdy. Plus, I need the dowel to support his arms.
Enjoy!

Projects

How much can I complete in 50 days?

I've certainly gotten another building spurt going and enough ideas to keep me busy, most likely past the dead line... >=) (Pun totally intended!)

Right now I'm completely absorbed in my first ever ground breaker. I've been studying pictures and tutorials of other Halloween prop builders ground breakers (thank you PumpkinRot & Stolloween for such inspiring pieces of work), trying to figure out the best way of going about creating mine. I have a very particular image in my head of how I want him to look. Hopefully, I don't become so obsessive perfectionistic that I don't finish it! I won't let that happen; it's looking too good all ready to be locked up in the house, for no one to see. I'd love to turn out one or two more, but goodness knows what I'll have time for.

The other thing that I'm contemplating, is covering up some of my old foam pumpkins with paper mache and basically recreating them. Most of them no longer have steams, thanks to my lovely little demon cat, Zeus. He's also the cause of the said pumpkin's broken faces. I don't know how that will work out, but it's worth a shot.

Pictures soon.

Foggy Conditions

I was so thankful for the cool tempatures and the absence of wind last year. It was PERFECT fog weather. After spurting out of the foggers, it would settle to the ground and creep across the lawn and down into the ditch, creating a waterfall effect. It was AMAZING! We're planning on more foggers this year... hopefully, Mother Nature is planning on more 'fog weather'.
